If you're still having trouble, check out. You can also search near a city, place, or address instead. I ordered an online manual from them. I paid with a credit card and followed the simple instructions to download the manual. There was no option to 'start download.'
I wrote to the company FIVE times in five days and never got a response. I tried calling the number on their web site but a recording says, it's not in service.
I called my credit card company and the charge for the item was on my statement. I told my credit card company to dispute the payment. I am not sure they are still in business (no live phone, no email response). Someone is still taking money from customers. I have also reported them to the BBB. Do not order manuals from this company. My manual is printed in 5 pt.
Manual Of The Los Angeles Police Department
Character size. It is so ridiculously small that it is nearly impossible to read.
To make it even worse they put the spiral binder through the print. I sent an email to the company the same day that the manual arrived. They claimed in an automated reply that someone would respond within 24-48 hours. It is past 48 hours and they have not replied to my complaint and I doubt that they ever will. The manual is terrible and extremely unacceptable. They have NO phone support so you can't even call the company to complain.
Manuals Ink Ltd. Obviously could care less about customer satisfaction. I would rate it a big fat ZERO for quality and customer satisfaction.
Anyone here have any intel on a british version Archdale radial-arm drill press this one was built between 1940 and 1950 and has 5ft travel on the arm. This model was manufactured for approx. I require info on the gear and handle positions.
And what does the handle on the topRH side of the head do? Operating instructions and parts breakdown would be beneficial as would anything that can be aquired. I know it's a long shot but does anybody know if somebody out there is still doing 'Archdale' spare parts. I went out to repair a 6 foot 'Archdale' drill this morning and discovered the huge clock spring that keeps the spindle balanced was broken in half! What a struggle to get the broken spring out of it's housing! I've told the customer to contact a local springmaker to see if they can make a new one ( luckily Rochdale is a centre for spring making in the U.K. ) but it would be nice to get an original if possible.
Regards Tyrone. Tyrone 'Clock Spring' is the operative word. A UK clock spares 'on line' shop has Clock springs in a whole range of sizes from small to large, and some of the large ones are very powerful.
'Cousins' is the stockist's name. Hell of a lot cheaper than having one made if you can find one about the right size and thickness.
The springs are listed giving width, thickness and size of the barrel that it would be fitted in.(All measurements in mm) The 'Trifix' brand of springs are very strong, and have a hole at each end. They come coiled to the quoted barrel diameter with a retaining wire round them. A spring's strength is directlly proportional to its width but proportional to the cube of its thickness. So get one twice as thick as original and it is EIGHT times as strong. ( 1x1x1=1 and 2x2x2=8) ( They call Width of spring 'height'.) Davycrocket (Horologist). Hi Tyrone I looked in the Cousins list and sure enough there was one 1.5' (40mm) wide but only 0.5mm(0.020-ish')thick.
Your spring being twice as thick will be 8 times stronger than the Cousins one. 0.5 cubed being 0.125 and 1 cubed being 1, ref my post above. Download driver laptop axioo neon hnm windows 7 32 bit.
And even though I have a special device to assist putting a 0.5mm spring into a barrel, it is quite a dangerous task even with thick leather scafold rigger's gloves. And I know broken springs are harder to get out than new springs are to put in. That spring of yours must have been a right bugger to go near. Good luck with the fitting of the new one.!! Here above is the gadget that I made to assist removing unbroken springs from, and putting new springs into barrels.
Thanks for your interest. I've got photo's of the spring and housing on my phone but do I know how to upload them on this site? Not a chance! Looking back at them the spring may even be thicker thank 0.040', it could well be 0.060'.
It's a real beast, it did it's best to attack me when I was removing it! My customer had a guy around this week and he's making a new one. The plan is the spring will be ready next Thursday and I'll fit it next Saturday. Fingers crossed the spring maker knows his stuff.
It's not just straight forward spring, the lugs at each end are a bit tricky. I'll let you know how I go on next week. Watch this space! Regards Tyrone. Not to minimize your challenge, but flat spring stock is one of those items that may never go away, and the skillset will most likely remain available, also. 'Broken in half' makes me wonder if the original could be improved, if it wasn't abused.
Was an oversize tapping head being balanced, perhaps? The size you are seeking may be difficult to source, but 'flat spring stock' may be comprehended for a long time into the future. Any sort of retractable hose/cable reel uses it. 'Recoil' small engine rope starts use it. Most likely you have a domestic source, but if not, you could contact Century Spring in Los Angeles: Good Luck, Steve.
